I have actually had some knitting completed this year (Of course, driving to IKEA in Canton, MI twice in 2 weeks helps!)
But I finished a pair of footies for the teenager (She asked and picked out the yarn!)
They are laying on my new leather ottoman/coffee table. No baby hurts here!
It is a good thing IKEA is a good drive away from us. We still like to go to the Michigan store even though the new one in Ohio is a little closer. I also got yarn for Christmas! My guy is a good one! He stopped by Temptations...and I have some new Shibui. Yea~
I am making socks for me with some MistiAlpaca I got at Yellow Springs this summer. But no where near finished. But I did finish this:

The tomato hat! No actually the news is this...are you sitting down? I happened to have turned 37 in June and have found out that I am pregnant. Crazy stuff! My daughter is 15 and I am going to have another baby. Just when I was celebrating the fact that we have 3 years of High School left. Who would have thought! The pregnancy is only a semi- secret. So shh! Don't tell! Just kidding...we have told our immediate families and I am sure the news is spreading fast. It has taken me a couple of weeks to get use to this but obviously I have...I am already knitting for the little bean! Wonder what else I will finish!
On the rest of the knitting front:
I got package from my "No sheep" buddy! How cool...the lovely blue-green is Hemp! I have never felt hemp this soft.

It is Hempathy (34% Hemp 41% Cotton, and 25% Modal) so cool...and Yes, I have decided to use this to make ME something! (I know I am being a bit selfish...but heck, I am pregnant!)
The White yarn is from HABU Textiles and is 100% silk...and again so soft. Amazing color...again..I think something for me...There was also a little something extra in my great package, but it managed to escape the pictures.
I have been so lucky with my buddy Jean! She has been great sending packages...
I am a bit sad about my SP10...I had a couple of messages left on my blog but that has been about it. But it has not stopped me from signing up for SP11. I have had such a blast sending packages to my buddy in Germany. It was a challenge to make sure that I found goodies that were not German made already. I was lucky as a teenager and gotto spend a summer as an exchange student in Germany, before the wall came down...Anyhow, i love sock yarn and have a tendancy to buy German...so sending to Tina has been fun. I did screw up my dates a bit so I still have a package to go out. I had to re-ship my last one as it came back to me with a bit of damage. Learned a lesson there!
Ok, better run and enjoy my quiet time!

Life is not well on the sock front. I went to a Volleyball tourney with my daughter's team...took my knitting (Like all good knitters would)...left my half completed Cider Moon "Buckeye Blast" Sock...It was the second one! UGH! I am so flaky these days...but now I have an excuse! But the good news is I am almost finished with my Sockapolooza socks! Yippee! Now as long as I do not leave it laying around....
I cannot believe it but I have now finished 3 pairs of socks in Feb! Ok, these were just under the wire but hey! I just finished loading them on Flickr in the socktopia group. I have not been using Flickr much since I cannot see it at work, and it is so slow here!
Anyhow, my 3rd entry for the month of Feb...in the short and sweet category:

Took Dad to the surgeon today, all went well. He can even drive now if he wants. I hope he wants. We also visited Whole Foods (I love that place!) And stopped at a new VW dealer to find out that I really did have my Lug/Rim key. And that the moron that looked last did not have a clue!
Cool huh? No extra bucks I have to spend after all! Yea! Yippee!
Life has been crazy, but that is ok. In this mess, I have found a bit of time for some knitting and may actually find time to write my very first sock pattern.
I had picked up this sock yarn from YarnArt Crazy Color at a great price. The cheapest pair of socks I have knit yet! And even though there is more acrylic than wool, I actually love these socks! These will be my entry for Feb on Socktopia! I am so excited to have completed at least one pair for a theme in the time alloted!
I altered a pattern from SockBug's blog called Bubble Wrap! (Oops cannot find her link right now...I need high speed!) It turned out great! And so cozy! Now all I need to do is figure out how to upload them to the right place on Flickr! I have to do this at home, since all picture hosts are blocked at work (where the connection is much faster!)
My second pair are made from Steinbach Wolle: Sockenwolle in a lovely coffee brown. And the yarn was from my coffee and yarn swap partner.
They have holes! On purpose holes! Cool huh? Well, I think so. I will work on writing this pattern out and then post it!
I also finshed a few other things I will add to my picture book later!
We are supposed to be playing Volleyball in Toledo, but again Mother Nature has interfered and we got stuck at home. Quite a bummer, especially since I was really looking forward to visiting my old college. (Hey, I need a new sweatshirt!)
I have just joined SP10 and will be posting the long list of questions shortly! So excited. I skipped SP9 since I knew I would be a bit busy! So onto SP10
Well, I just finished my newest socks...And I call them celebration. Actually they are a combination of SockBug's River Rapids pattern and typical sock pattern. I finished the instep in plain stockinette. But I loved the stitch pattern...looks like cables, without the cable needle! I joined socktopia at the beginning of the month...And these socks remind me of the theme celebration, especially since I am giving them to someone special. The rest of the story needs to stay secret until she gets them! The photo does not do them justice! I used CiderMoon yarn. They are from Utica, Ohio. Just a hop, jump and a skip from here!
And on the UFO front:
I have an entire skein knit and have started the next one! Half wayto finished and it is only January 21st!
The Blue Socks are not fairing as well, but I did trun the heel! (Those little needles drive me crazy!) Plus, I got hit with the stomach bug on Friday...does not bode well for knitting!
See there is the proof!!!! It is cold! And my internet is slow! And I hate Swap-Bot...I cannot get to my screen and my swaps. Ugh! Maybe later it will work again! Until then I cannot get to the Coffee and Yarn Swap I did or to post that I sent my last 2 swaps! UGH!

I was actually blog reading (I know, who has that much time!?!) when I stumbled across Kat With a K and her UFO Ressurection Challenge 2007. I am signing up...ok, I know a New Year's Resolution is meant to be broken. But heck, this one sounds like a plan...I dig out some UFO's 1 a month and work on it or frog it. What could be simpler?

1. The Knit-From-Your-Stash-a-Thon will start January 1, 2007 and run through September 30, 2007 -- a period of nine months. (ok, I may have to really shorten this...say 6 months. I need a head start on Christmas!)
2. We will not buy any yarn during that period, with the following exceptions:
2.a. Sock yarn does not count. What? You think we are made of stone?
2.b. If someone asks for a specific knitted gift that we really and truly do not have the yarn for, we may buy yarn to knit that gift.
2.c. If we are knitting something and run out of yarn, we may purchase enough to complete the project.
2.d. We each get one "Get Out of Jail Free" card -- we are each allowed to fall off the wagon one time every 2 months (I have no will power!)
3. We are allowed to receive gifts of yarn (Big Hint! Hint! Hint!)

Yippee! I made a pair of socks! My first ever!

I used the Cascade with elastic in it. I can't rememeber the name right now. Such excitement! I bought this sock yarn at least a year ago and have never been able to figure the sock thing out! I love short rows...how easy!

I was gifted this weekend with a great surprise from a "new" secret buddy! Ok, actually not a secret any longer but still! My original buddy from the One Skein secret pal must have ran into issues, because I only heard from her once! But that is ok! I just recieved a great surprise!
Darn it I wish I could center these darn things! Must be the art teacher in me! Presentation, presentation, yep, presentation!
Anyhow, in this small picture it is hard to make out the super design of the wrist warmers and of course, you cannot tell how arm they are!!! On a different note:
Can you say "DEVIL DOG"! Ok, really he is not that bad, but I am way old for a puppy...especially one of the Border Collie variety. He is red and white...and just cute as can be, and SMART! We have already learned "sit" (Ok, so maybe the people who had him had been working on that one) and looks for approval. We "worked" at the chores this morning...all went well, for now. He does not want to stop and take a nap. Just like a kid...so I am very happy that we are crate training him. The only he place he will quit and take a nap. Although he about fell over from sleepiness this evening. We had a short nap and then we will be playing for a bit. I was up at 5a.m. this morning! And I am not a morning person.
I have knit 3 rows since Red came to his new house!
