First, I HATE DIAL-UP! Ok, not that I have that off my chest! And heck, who doesn't hate dial-up. It is the price we pay for living in the sticks!
I also need to send a great big Thank You! to my No Sheep Yarn Swap partner Jean. I got a lovely package from her and she has just arrived home from Italy...how awesome is that!
What a great package! The yarn is awesome...I love all the pink.
Now what to knit! Thank you again!!!! (And so sorry that I am so slow getting my post up!)
We went to IKEA in MI for my birthday/father's day...spent a ton, but got a lot. I am already planning for the next trip! But during that time my Dad (who is recovering from Heart surgery in Feb.) Came down with a seriously bad UTI and is in ICU. Now let me say here, I want to kick his butt. Why? Well, he has a lot of experience with kidney stones and the such (I got mine from him!) so he knows the signs...ok, enough ranting. He is doing better but still in the hospital.
Between getting my daughter to 7:30 a.m. conditioning and PT for her shoulder, I am getting a little knitting finished. But that may even slow down with the surprise I got today. We headed over to the nearest hatchery Ridgeway Hatchery to see if they had any hens. We have had a Great Horned Owl get into our flock of guineas, my goose, and have lost a couple of the chicks that were hatched at school. Ok, I think there is also a few racoons to blame also. One actually broke into my coop. I hate to kill anything, but let me tell you we are over run with racoons...Anyhow, as to my surprise.
They did not have any older pullets, but had chicks. So we got some of the easter egg chicks and a few black and white barred rocks (my husband grew up on a chicken/egg producing farm!) and about 8 new guinea chicks that they had...I get the box home and are ready to put them in the brooder when I find these guys: And here is another picture the blue waterer...
milk jug cap.
I had 2 baby quail in my box of chicks...Uh-oh. how on earth do I care for these guys? I had to bring them inside, they can crawl out of the brooder and the others are 4x their size. One guy already got stepped on. And they need serious heat so inside they came. Husband had to leave...this will be a surprise! Hopefully they make it.They are in a diaper wipe container and the one can still hop out! ok, maybe I can get some knitting in between the peeps!
